Water is the most valuable wealth, named also the Blue Gold. All the living creatures need water to survive. However, water resources are getting limited as time goes by. The big challenge in the next few years will be saving, and recovering resources. The only way to achieve these results is the application of technologies, in particular those linked to the Internet of things, and artificial intelligence. Through innovation, it will be possible to monitor, detect critical issues, offer a better service to citizens, as well as protect the environment.
SIMCom and MiDo have created a series of smart water metering devices in an effort to make sure that Blue Gold is better distributed and protected. These Smart water metering applications were equipped with SIMCom’s NB-IoT Modules SIM7020G and SIM7000E, used to realize remote data transmission and control. It supports accurate measurement, remote data transmission and real-time monitoring. More than that, it has certain warning functions, and helps the control platform to enable smart management, improve the management efficiency, and save human and time cost to a very large extent.
Mido Met devices have edge computing algorithms on board, they are able to detect alarm and warning by themselves: leakage, consumption above limits, values out of limits.

- Self-powered with up to 10 years of autonomy

- Tailor made on customer needs
The system is completed with cloud computing for a better management of the water network.
All devices are also interoperable thanks to the SIMCOM native protocols such as MQTT.
The innovation and development of IoT technology are facilitating a large-scale replacement of traditional meters by IoT smart meters. Hence a gradual switch from 2G towards NB-IoT. There is the increasing demand for meters with low power consumption, low delay and wide coverage. SIMCom has launched a series of LPWA modules, such as NB-IoT& GNSS module SIM7060 series, LTE CAT.M1&NB-IoT module SIM7080G, latest small-sized LTE CAT.M1 & NB-IoT module SIM7090G and LTE CAT.M1&NB-IoT&GSM module SIM7070 series and so on.
The SIM7020G module has powerful expansibility with abundant interfaces including UART, GPIO, I2C etc, which is designed for applications that need low latency, low throughput data communication in a variety of radio propagation conditions. Due to the unique combination of performance, security and flexibility, this module is ideally suited for M2M applications, such as metering, asset tracking, and remote monitoring, E-health etc.
