Industry Challenges

Electric cars effectively save energy and facilitate travel, but they also face a series of challenges, the core of which being the performance, cost and safety of power batteries. The power battery heats up when it's working, which is normally controllable. However, when the temperature of the battery or the charging voltage is too high, chemical reactions will occur within the battery one after another, resulting in a chain reaction that will cause the internal pressure and temperature of the battery to rise sharply, which will then lead to thermal runaway of the battery that will cause explosion or combustion.

In recent years, there have been numerous reports of fire caused by EV charging. According to the Ministry of Emergency Management, 233 people have died from e-bike fires across the country since 2013, including 34 big fires that caused fatalities and 142 deaths. Recently, a fire caused by electromobile battery charging resulted in a floor fire and killed a courier who rented the house in Rihui Xincun in Xuhui District, Shanghai. The fire department sent 10 fire engines and 65 firefighters to put out the fire at the site. Improving the safety of EV charging to reduce accidents and casualties is a major problem for EV.

01.Accurate estimation of the charge state of the power battery pack

The BMS accurately estimates the remaining battery charge of the power battery pack to ensure that the SOC is maintained within a reasonable range and thus prevent damage to the battery due to overcharging or overdischarge.

02.Dynamic monitoring of the operating status of the power battery pack

In the process of battery charging and discharging, the terminal voltage,temperature charge and discharge and total pack voltage of each battery in the power battery pack are collected in real time to prevent over-charging or over-discharging of the battery.
